Youngtimers and me

I like cars since I'm my own master. These day's youngtimers are my favourites, because we are the age, we grown up together. We used them, watched them, we were longing for them, we collected them as a matchox and all our favourit cars were one of them. I still feel the same.

My affiliation to the Star brand is in connection with a german holliday. Everything began there, when I was 9.

The holliday started in East Germany, we were guests at my Mother's pen-friend in East Berlin. Then using the actual currency limit + hidden money + other jollyjokers: one week West Germany, München and the Alps.

In the cars point of view, the interesting was the second week: What we have seen, was schocking!

With the family's smugly maintained 2 years old, strictly basic model Skoda 105s. (it was a faithful mate for long long years, nowdays it mbybk.blog.hu/media/file/Zugspitze '87 01.jpg would be a youngtimer too) In the third, most outter lane of the Nürnberg München highway we were cruising by a safe speed of 100-110 km/h, while in the fast lane  the "differend world" already mentioned by Malenykij was passing. In the middle lane the normal western cars were cruising like Golfs, Kadetts, Escorts, PUGs, Renaults, Fiats, etc.. In the fast lane were the big fishes Benzes, BMWs, AUdis and different sportcars at the speed of light in the biggest tranquillity.

We were playing stip-stop game with my brother and a bit later we were nearly killed each other because none of us could remember who stopped wich car for himself. In this questions maybe we still have some black spots, but the clinching fact is that: on this '87's summer afternoon on the A9 highway between Nürnberg and München, I stopped all the Mercedes Benzes for myself! (My brother stopped all the Bimmers, but no one asked :) )

That time, there, the Mercedes enthralled me, as they rised to the view and disappeared... Elegantly, gracefully, not obtrusively but commanding respect...

Than, in a parking area after münchen the incarnate dream: a now already a classic, but theese days a brand new Mercedes from the w124 series. A limousine, black, elegant, coool!! Of course I already stopped it for myself from the skoda, but after getting out of it, came the new buzz. We went around, looked throgh the windows, checked, how much is written in it, took photos, simply we could not get enough of it.

Two small ungarische betyár and the w124 anno 1987

Since that I'm still commited to the Star brand. Fortunately since some years ago I can grip a Mercedes Benz steering wheel every day, but it will be a new post.
In advance I show you a poster which I put on my wall somewhen around '92 as a 14 year old child. I relocated several times, It has some stains, it's crinkled, but I still keep it:
